Amcor and Choví debut mono-PP flip-top closure for smooth sauce dispensing

Amcor has unveiled a bespoke, mono-polypropylene flip-top closure for sauce brand Choví, designed to control the sauce’s flow during dispensing and improve the consumer experience.

Designed for robustness, the bi-injection closure features a silicone valve that controls the flow of the sauce as it is dispensed from the bottle. The closure’s curved shape is set to increase functionality while standing out on the shelf.

Choví is a long-standing customer of Amcor, and chose the company for this project due to its established history of developing closures – as well as its Spanish manufacturing facility.

The new closure will apply to Choví’s range of sauces for salads, barbecues and snacks, including its La Brava, Allioli, Cheddar, Kebab White, Ajonesa, Barbacoa, Ketchup, César, Yogur and Miel y Mostaza products.

“We have created this unique closure to appeal to the consumer in a variety of ways,” said Amcor sales director Mirko Todeschi. “It is a fresh and exciting look for Choví, delivering shelf differentiation against rival sauce brands.

“Ease of use was key to the design, allowing the user to pour the sauce in a controlled way. In addition, our collaborative approach enabled on-time turnaround and fast delivery.”

David Moya Aparicio, logistics and purchasing manager at Grupo Choví, added: “Amcor is a trusted partner of ours and the company has delivered a flip-top closure that enhances the user experience. “A consumer’s first interaction after purchase will be with the closure and it was critical that this flip top version worked smoothly.

“Amcor has delivered and with its local knowledge and manufacturing capabilities, we are proud to say that this innovation is made in Spain for a Spanish brand.”

This development comes after Amcor introduced its Flava Flip Top Closure 38/400 – a new, ‘lightweighted’ 55 mm closure for applications such as mayonnaise, ketchup and sweet sauces. Available in a variety of orifice sizes and circular valves, the closure is considered ‘recyclable-ready’ with PET, HDPE and PP bottles.

In other news, Heinz’s limited-edition Love Lid allows consumers to dispense their ideal amount of sauce onto their food by selecting one of three settings. The closure is designed to solve arguments around what the “right” amount of ketchup is for various foods.
