# Yangi secures €10 million in funding to scale dry forming technology

[**Yangi**](https://www.yangi.se/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) **has announced it has successfully secured €10 million in an oversubscribed Series A funding round to industrialize its dry forming technology for fibre packaging at scale, led by venture capital fund** [**Industrifonden**](https://industrifonden.com/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io)**.**

The company’s Yangi Cellera is designed to offer packaging producers and brands a scalable, renewable alternative to fossil-based plastics, said to be validated and industrially available. Yangi says the first machine has been sold to a European converter and the first products using Yangi’s fibre technology were distributed to Asian customers at the end of 2024.

Yangi’s expanded investor group now includes Industrifonden, [Almi Invest GreenTech](https://www.almi.se/en/venture-capital/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) and existing shareholders [Voith](https://www.voith.com/corp-en/index.html?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io), [Chanel](https://www.chanel.com/gb/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io), [FutureLab & Partners](https://www.futurelabandpartners.com/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io), and Turret Oy.

“Yangi’s dry forming technology uses paper fibre in an extremely efficient manner and has the potential to compete with plastic in cost per unit,” says Anna Haupt, investment director at Industrifonden. She continues: “A low unit cost is necessary to transform the packaging industry and reduce the plastic mountains piling up on land and in our oceans.”

The company [introduced](https://packagingeurope.com/news/yangi-reduces-water-and-energy-consumption-with-dry-forming-technology/12715.article?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) its Yangi Cellera industrial machine platform back in February, said to reduce water and energy consumption and reduce CO2 emissions by up to 70%. Designed and engineered in collaboration with [GDM](https://www.gdm-spa.com/en?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) (part of [Coesia](https://www.coesia.com/en?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) group) and [AP&T](https://www.aptgroup.com/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io), the machine aims to enhance performance, quality, and sustainability in fibre-based packaging.
