# VFFS bagging machine from WeighPack Systems now using paper film

[**WeighPack Systems**](https://www.weighpack.com/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) **has announced that its latest VersaPak vertical form fill and seal (VFFS) bagging machine is now running with paper film, designed to reduce environmental impact and meet consumer demand for ‘eco-conscious’ alternatives to plastic packaging.**

WeighPack says the VersaPak machine is engineered for versatility, simplicity and speed, capable of bagging items from hardware, vegetables and fruits to snack foods and baked goods. It is said to be compatible with recyclable and compostable paper films.

The VersaPak is designed for applications requiring flexibility, short runs and manual or automatic loading. Using non-proprietary flat roll stock film, pouches are produced with top and bottom seals and a vertical back seal, said to require minimal footprint and effort.

VersaPak can be integrated with a printer allowing manufacturers to print real-time information such as lot numbers, expiration dates, and QR codes directly on the pouch. It can be used for bag widths from 2 to 8 inches (50 to 200 mm) and lengths of 2 to 12 inches (50 to 300 mm) and also features a built-in touchscreen interface.

The machine is said to be capable of opening, filling and sealing up to 70 pre-made pouches per minute or 4,200 pouches per hour.

This is anticipated to be useful for soft and pliable applications such as dates or cranberries and dry and hard products like peanuts or cashews.
