The awards are split into three categories. For the ‘Best plastic product development for recyclability or re-use’ category, the shortlisted entries are [Berry Global](https://www.berryglobal.com/en/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io)’s Abel & Cole Club Zero refillable milk and Omni Xtra+ PE film, [Capri-Sun](https://www.capri-sun.com/en-gb/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io)’s mono-material beverage pouch and the K3 r100 self-separating cup from [Greiner Packaging](https://www.greiner-gpi.com/en?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) UK & Ireland. In the ‘Best innovation in equipment or technology’ category, the entries are [Cauli Ltd](https://www.wearecauli.com/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io)’s CauliKiosk, an AI-powered reverse vending for reusable plastics; [Ellipsis Earth](https://www.ellipsis.earth/home?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io)’s AI waste platform; [Polytag](https://polytag.io/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) and [Ocado Retail](https://ocadoretail.com/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io)’s rewards for recycling and [TOMRA Recycling](https://www.tomra.com/en/waste-metal-recycling?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io)’s GAINnextTM, designed to enable food-grade sorting. For the ‘Recycled plastic product of the year’, all ambient soft drinks, waters and dilutes from [Aldi UK](https://www.aldi.co.uk/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) have been shortlisted, as well as NEO WTR from [Brookfield Drinks](https://www.brookfielddrinks.co.uk/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io), Morph by [Morph Bricks](https://www.morphbricks.com/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) and the Nescafé Dolce Gusto Neo machine from [Free The Sea](https://www.freethesea.com/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) (on behalf of [Nestlé](https://www.nestle.com/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io)). The awards are followed by [The RECOUP Conference](https://www.recoup.org/news-events/the-recoup-conference-2024/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) held at Kingsgate Conference Centre in Peterborough, UK on the 26th September. Last year RECOUP unveiled [a project](https://packagingeurope.com/news/new-project-from-recoup-looks-towards-prevention-of-litter-with-improved-collection-and-analysis/10159.article?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) aiming to standardize the approach to collecting and analyzing litter, The Litter Composition & Pathways Project (LCPP). The LCPP seeks to develop a standardised and evidence-based approach for the collection and analysis of litter and produce a comprehensive data set.
