[**Sealed Air**](https://www.sealedair.com/uk?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) **has expanded its ProPad range with a compact paper cushioning system, designed to integrate into fast-paced conveyor lines and work cells with limited space.**

The company says the new ProPad Mini can create custom-length fanfold paper pads on demand and at high speeds. Suitable for protecting both lightweight and heavy small-size products and filling tight voids, it can run one- or two-ply paper made from FSC certified, 100% recycled fibres (using 85% post-industrial and 15% post-consumer materials).

The system has six adjustable dispensing-head angles, a swing arm mount, a rolling or stationary mount, a shelf mount and a foot pedal. Sealed Air states that operators can customize the system’s setup to suit their requirements and optimize pack station space.

The ProPad Mini also features a magnetic connector allowing users to choose where they want to attach the HMI touchscreen to the system or stand. The protective paper pads produced by ProPad systems can be reused and are said to be kerbside recyclable where appropriate services are available.

Eric Van Der Kallen, EMEA portfolio & marketing director at Sealed Air, commented: “The ProPad Mini is designed to be small in size and big on performance. It can create up to 36m protective paper pads per minute \[based on 30cm sized pads\], making it suitable for low to medium volume fulfilment lines. ProPad Mini’s small footprint, multiple configurations, easy loading and low maintenance are all designed with operators in mind to make it user friendly.”

Back in March, Sealed Air revealed an [automated void reduction system](https://packagingeurope.com/news/sealed-airs-automated-void-reduction-system-tackles-two-box-sizes-per-machine/14058.article?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) to process two box sizes on one machine, right-size corrugated packaging and avoid unnecessary waste. The system is compatible with box sizes ranging from 180 × 140 × 50 mm up to 630 × 450 × 400 mm and claims to maintain a throughput of 10–12 boxes per minute depending on the size.

In other news, [DS Smith](https://www.dssmith.com/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) collaborated with [Elvial](https://www.elvial.gr/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) to introduce its [fibre-based Fanfold packaging](https://packagingeurope.com/news/ds-smith-and-elvial-partner-on-protective-packaging-for-aluminium-products/14018.article?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) to customers across Greece’s industrial sector, designed to protect heavy aluminium products during transport. The solution has an accordion-style structure to allow for the folding and adjustment of sizes and aims to provide robust and versatile protection for international freight.
