# ‘Recyclable’ carry handle applied to twin bottle packs of Robinsons fruit drink

[**Britvic Soft Drinks**](https://www.britvic.com/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) **is implementing a recyclable carry handle solution from** [**Item Products**](https://www.item-products.co.uk/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) **into the 1.75L twin bottle pack for its** [**Robinsons**](https://robinsonssquash.co.uk/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) **fruit drink brand.**

Reportedly, the handle is made from 100% recycled material and can be disposed of through the domestic waste recycling system. It is designed to enable consumers to securely carry the pack by the collar when transporting it between the shelf and their homes.

The handle will be applied to 1.75L twin bottle packs sold at [Costco](https://www.costco.co.uk/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io).

“Working closely with the packaging development and procurement teams here at Britvic, Item Products set out timetables for the design, models, tooling, testing and approval of samples through to full UK manufacturing,” said Adam Horvath, packaging development manager at Britvic pls. “The end result ticked all Britvic’s ‘must have’ needs and was delivered on schedule and to specification first time.”

“We are delighted to provide a solution for Britvic,” added Julian Cook, managing director at Item Products. “Being able to facilitate their requirement for a UK manufactured carry handle solution has helped to significantly cut their lead times and reduce transport costs. The added benefit of producing the handle in a universal black colour enables Britvic to remove the need for specific masterbatch, allowing the device to be used across multiple brands.”

Last year, [DS Smith](https://www.dssmith.com/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) and [Krones](https://www.krones.com/en/index.php?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) worked together to replace the plastic shrink wrap used in PET bottle multipacks with a [fibre-based alternative](https://packagingeurope.com/news/ds-smith-and-krones-aim-to-replace-plastic-shrink-wrap-with-fibre-based-eco-carrier/8801.article?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io); [Mondi](https://www.mondigroup.com/en/home/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) unveiled its recyclable paper solution, [Hug&Hold](https://packagingeurope.com/news/mondi-launches-hugandhold-a-new-alternative-to-plastic-shrink-wrap/8690.article?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io); and NMP Systems’ solution utilised dots of adhesive to produce a [separable pack](https://packagingeurope.com/world-first-carlsberg-opts-for-strong-bond-for-cans-with-nature-multipack/2270.article?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) for beverage containers.

[PakTech](https://paktech-opi.com/geo-ip-en/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) has also announced the release of its CCA MicroPak [can carrier applicator](https://packagingeurope.com/news/paktech-reveals-high-speed-can-handle-applicator/9354.article?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) as an extension of its handle applicator machine line.
