# Korozo Group creates recyclable stand-up pouch for Baileys snack range

[**Korozo Group**](https://www.korozo.com.tr/en?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) **has partnered with** [**Zertus**](https://www.zertus.de/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) **UK & Ireland to create recyclable stand up pouches, designed to introduce** [**Baileys**](https://www.baileys.com/en-gb?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io)**’ new Chocolate Nut Mix snack range to retail shelves.**

Baileys’ new snack range hopes to take the Irish cream liqueur into new product categories such as the adult snack market. The product combines chocolate-coated almonds, a mix of caramelised almonds, cashews, hazelnuts and peanuts with a hint of Baileys flavour and salted toffee popcorn.

The stand-up pouches were printed flexo in eight colours. As well as a partial surface matte lacquer, Korozo’s KoroRCY film was laminated to a PE layer with EVOH component to achieve the required barrier properties without compromising the pouch’s recyclability. Laser scribing was used to create an easy tear opening and a zipper has been integrated for resealing opened packs.

Irem Altinay, field sales manager for Food Flexibles UK and Ireland at Korozo Group, said: “Zertus UK & Ireland required packaging that was highly functional but also striking on shelf. We were able to provide a pack that was recyclable and resealable, supporting the brand’s sustainability goals while keeping the product in tip-top condition through the supply chain.”

Last May, [Diageo](https://www.diageo.com/en?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) revealed it would be [trialling](https://packagingeurope.com/news/diageo-conducts-paper-based-bottle-trial-for-baileys-irish-cream-liqueur/11389.article?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) paper-based packaging for [Baileys](https://www.baileys.com/en-gb/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io)’ Original Irish Cream Liqueur, designed for recycling in standard paper streams. The Dry Molded Fiber bottles consisted of 90% paper with a thin plastic liner and a foil seal.

Later in the year, [Amcor](http://www.amcor.com/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) worked with [Lorenz Snacks](http://www.lorenz-snacks.com/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) to launch [‘recycle-ready’](https://packagingeurope.com/news/amcor-and-lorenz-snacks-collaborate-on-recycle-ready-snack-packaging/11611.article?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) packaging for its Lentil Coated Peanuts product, which had a reported 51% carbon footprint reduction. The new packs were also said to have a 41% reduction in non-renewable energy use.
