# Dow and RDM to launch food barrier solution made from 100% recycled materials

[**Dow**](https://corporate.dow.com/en-us.html?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) **and** [**RDM Group**](https://rdmgroup.com/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) **have announced the launch of Multiboard CirculaRR, a food barrier solution made entirely from recyclable materials, said to be suitable for food contact applications including frozen foods, fruit trays and dry pet food.**

The solution is made from recycled paper coated with advanced recycled polyethylene (PE). It builds on RDM Group’s existing Multiboard Barrier product, manufactured at the company’s facility in Fiskeby, Sweden.

According to the companies, Multiboard Barrier is a recycled cartonboard coated with around 5% polyethylene (PE) by weight. The low polymer content enables the packaging to be collected and processed within existing mixed paper recycling streams.

Multiboard CirculaRR has been independently assessed using the latest [4evergreen](https://4evergreenforum.eu/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) testing protocol, confirming that the solution is not only made from recycled materials but also designed to be recyclable within established paper recycling systems. Dow says the new solution aims to help brands and converters prepare for the PPWR’s recyclability ambitions and recycled content requirements while maintaining food safety.

According to Dow and RDM Group, Multiboard’s CirculaRR plastic part is certified under the [International Sustainability and Carbon Certification](https://iscc-system.org/certification/certification-schemes/iscc-plus/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) (ISCC PLUS) system, confirming the use of recycled plastic from advanced recycling through a mass‑balance chain of custody. The solution has also been certified by [ISEGA](https://www.isega.de/EN%5Findex%5F1000.html?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io), an independent testing institute specializing in materials intended for food contact, confirming its suitability for food packaging applications.

Multiboard CirculaRR will be officially launched at [interpack 2026](https://www.interpack.com/?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io), taking place in Düsseldorf, Germany, from 7-13 May. Prototypes will be showcased at Dow’s booth in Hall 9, C24.

Earlier this year, RDM Group [introduced](https://packagingeurope.com/rdms-new-recycled-cartonboard-delivers-up-to-20-packaging-weight-reduction/13892.article?ref=packaging-europe.ghost.io) Vincicoat PLUS (V+), a new generation of recycled cartonboard engineered to reduce the gap to virgin-level performance while enabling packaging weight reductions. Krzysztof Krajewski, Chief Sustainability and Innovation Officer at RDM Group, detailed the new solution as part of the company’s Innovation Spotlight.
